Samuel Atkinson son of Thomas and Margery Atkinson was born near Kingman, Ind Nov 26, 1834 died Sept 7, 1909 aged 74 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was married to Martha E. Hadley in 1863. To this union were born 7 children: Milton E; Cora Alice; Harriet L; Clayton A; William T; Charles Oliver and Clara M. Two of them, Cora ALice and Charles Oliver having preceded him he leaves a wife, 5 children, 17 grandchildren one brother and one sister. He united wit the Friends Church at Rush Creek in 1864 and was converted in 1872 and has lived a faithful follower of the Lord until his death. His sickness was of short duration and his sufferinga t times was intense, but it was borne with patience and submission tot he will of the LOrd. A lthough he was unable to talk very much he to a firend, "What a blessed thing it is to have the strong arm of power to lean upon in time of affliction. He was such a kind and affecctionate husband and father, always having aword of encouragement for each one manifesting his love for them in so many ways that he will be greatly missed in the home. T he church ha slost a faithful member and will miss him at his accustomed place on the rostrum but we feel assured that our loss is his gain and entrance to that beautiful home wher ethere is no more sickness or pain. But, joy forever-more!
